Mixed media works by Christopher Glenn Allison are the featured art exhibit throughout May at Thump Coffee in downtown Bend. Thump Coffee also will be open late for First Friday Art Walk, May 6.

“I favor a creative process of mixed mediums with a strong intent to reuse discarded scraps of wood, found objects and forgotten about print such as newspapers, books and pamphlets,” says Allison. “I use old and mis-matched house paints, spray paints and acrylic in conjunction with pencils and colored sharpies to portray the world I see with my minds eye. My work is ever evolving, celebrating the mirrored realms of the morphing fields of consciousness that we all face on a moment-to-moment basis.”

Allison is “deeply interested in and fascinated by the perceived dualities that shape our shared existence.” His work focuses on the physical and metaphysical contrasting the natural and spiritual.

“I see life as the yin and yang lying together in solitude or playing together within intense layers of the seen and unseen; an interaction of transcendental knowledge and everyday objects flexing the power of life,” says Allison. “I see signs and symbols chaotically encoded in the vast matrixes of the animals and the inanimate. I believe infinite universes are stacked upon the pillars of eternity that line the halls of forever, waiting to be discovered by mankind. It is a parallel heaven and earth happily dancing with shadows and light.”
