Open Late for May 1st Friday, 5/6
Make sure to stop by Thump on Friday, May 6 as we feature Christopher Allison’s mixed media, found object art. Some of his pieces have images on both front & back sides, so new images might reveal themselves throughout the month of May.

Poetry Month “Thumpku” Winners
Last month our staff made a party out of judging and enjoying all of the “Thumpku” haiku poems submitted for our contest. Thanks to everyone who participated! Bend has many talented poets. Here are the winners:
1st Place – Alice Wright
Eight thirty nine finds
Me here you there extracting
The liquid essence

Four forty alarm
Heavy, tired eyelids open
Stumble to coffee

I’ll make it decaf

Find Your Wish on Flickr
The wooden planks swaying from thump’s ceiling capturing brief wishes from passers by, are as much of what makes thump, thump as any delicious drink we serve. Have you ever wondered what happens to those wishes or how many have been created? Well, local artist and “Wishes” installation creator Mark Bernahl rotates the wishes every couple of months, adding new ones, removing old ones. He has kept every single wish that has been rotated out since the “Wishes” inception more than four years ago! And, he has scanned them! You can view more than 5,000 of them here. If you wrote a wish sometime in the last four years, go to our Flickr site and see if you can find it! Over 5,000 and counting are on the site! And . . . let us know if your wish came true!

Looking for a way to help with the relief efforts in Japan? Please consider purchasing a limited edition archival print, created by local designer Carlos Perez. All proceeds will go directly to the Global Giving Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Relief Fund.
“On March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake and tsunami devastated Northeastern Japan,” writes Perez.
“When I woke up Friday morning to the news – I was frozen. Never before had I seen such destruction on such a massive scale.
Your donation of $25 will be forwarded on to the people that need it immediately. I will be printing, signing, gently rolling, packing, and mailing these posters myself – and shipping them starting March 21,2011.”
Thanks for helping!
